Community Partnerships
As a long-time advocate for the health, safety, and empowerment of our communities, I seek ways to utilize my work and efforts to continue advancing this vision.
I'm currently volunteering my acupuncture and Chinese Medicine services to treat low-income women living with cancer in Oakland, at the
Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic
. The clinic has been around for over 20 years and provides an amazing array of services to the community. Please check out their website and think about donating funds or volunteering your own time and services (they need all kinds of alternative and holistic practitioners, including massage therapists, as well as support staff).
In response to the budget cuts wiping out state funding for all 94 domestic violence shelters across the state, I am also donating 20% of proceeds from the second Friday every month to
Building Futures with Women and Children
. Building Futures has been serving homeless and battered women and children in Alameda County for over 20 years, with emergency shelter and support services to help get some of the most vulnerable members of our community safely and supportively housed. Please check out their website and also think about donating funds, goods, or your time!
20% of proceeds from the third Friday of ever month will be donated to
Hand to Hand Kajukenbo Self Defense Center
, a community institution and the not-for-profit kwoon where I train in martial arts. Hand to Hand's mission is to empower and positively transform individuals and communities to create a peaceful and just society through martial arts and self defense. While it is open to all genders, it holds a special place in my heart as a place that facilitates women getting in touch with the peaceful warrior spirit within. Please check out upcoming women's self defense and all-gender new beginners' classes on their website.
